Symbium: The Computational Law Company

The key to Symbium's business is Computational Law (Complaw), an innovative technology based on the codification of laws and regulations in computable form. Just like TurboTax mechanizes the tax code, Symbium's Complaw-enabled web applications have rules and regulations built right into them.

Until now, the development of Complaw systems using traditional development stacks has been costly and time-consuming. Regulations and policies often change, resulting in high maintenance costs. To combat these problems, our team developed a platform that enables the accelerated and lightweight development and maintenance of web-based Complaw systems at scale.

We are currently focused on deploying our platform to automate cities' and counties' land use and development regulations. Our flagship service, BUILD, enables homeowners, business owners, local government staff, and design professionals to easily understand and navigate complex zoning regulations, explore what's possible on their property, and manage development projects.

We are looking for creative and talented new team members to join us in scaling BUILD across the country and building the next generation of Complaw-enabled services.

Roles (full-time)

Software Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Design and build user interfaces in HTML and CSS.
  • Work closely with product managers, domain experts and peer software engineers to represent relevant laws and regulations in our proprietary computer-readable and computer-executable format.
  • Set up the requisite data infrastructure to evaluate these computable regulations – this includes integrating and normalization (cleaning) of data available through web-accessible APIs.
  • Contribute to our technology platform as we grow and scale our services.

Who you are

We are looking for people who meet the following requirements:

  • Team player who is passionate about being a part of a tight-knit and nimble team.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analysis skills.
  • Ideally, you've built an exciting product in your previous roles and loved the satisfaction that comes with knowing that people around the world are using a product that you've created or contributed to.
  • Experience in JavaScript, HTML, PHP (and/or NodeJS, Python).
  • Familiarity with deploying services on AWS.

Planner / Project Manager

Director of Sales

What you'll do

Symbium is looking for an accomplished Director of Sales with a passion for pushing disruptive SaaS tech forward in high-regulated verticals, to partner directly with our CEO and Product Managers to design & deliver sales initiatives, provide critical product feedback to our Product Managers, scale with the growth of the sales organization, and meet the agile requirements of a small but growing venture-backed org. We're looking for someone who can initially design and exceed quotas, provide focused feedback on sales initiatives, gap analysis, and iterations that improve sales outcomes, confidence, and executive level selling. Subsequently, the candidate should assist with the hire and development of sales reps through role-play and real-time observation.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver researched revenue benchmarks and quotas, with detailed sales plans for both enterprise SaaS and pay-per-use models.
  • Establish OKRs to track sales efficacy; work with the CEO and Product Managers to further develop and maintain sales OKRs, dashboards, and reporting to drive improvements and revenue growth.
  • Test, assess, and measure effectiveness using NPS, surveys, and other mechanisms; and constantly improve based on feedback.
  • Collaborate with the CEO to determine key skills and gaps to focus on for existing sales initiatives and new sales hires.
  • Collaborate to react quickly to any decrease in metrics, putting a plan into place with stakeholders to make immediate improvements.
  • Actively and continuously learn and stay informed about the latest messaging, product capabilities, roles, and new systems and processes.
  • Train new hires by preparing them to meet and exceed sales proficiency, requirements beyond the initial on-boarding window through focus on sales process, sales messaging, and sales tools and other specialized content.
  • Establish, build, and mentor an internal coaching network to assist in training new hires, as needed.

  • 5+ years delivering sales results in a quota carrying role and designing revenue projections.
  • Confidence in leading a sales initiative with a small but growing venture-backed startup.
  • "Front of Room" experience, with engaging presentation skills. We are looking to build an energizing sales team, who can make materials come alive!
  • Proven ability to simplify complex information into an easy-to-understand format.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan effectively with a demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, thrive in a fast-paced environment and stay flexible and adaptable through growth and change.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - know how to form successful relationships, collaborate and work across functional teams at various levels, internally and externally, in-person and virtually.
  • Experience in enterprise sales to government is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent.
